Raising Money for SafePlace - Denim Day Earrings!

Hello Everyone!

Excited to announce that I have opened an Etsy Shop devoted just to raising money for Causes That Matter...called The Giving Circle.

Circle of Stones Jewelry has already raised money for The Invisible Children of Africa, The Mona Foundation, Global Camps Africa, The Amala Foundation, and now SafePlace!

The month of April is Sexual Assault Awareness & Prevention Month! Wednesday, April 27th, 2011 is Denim Day.  SafePlace is asking everyone to wear Denim Jeans to raise awareness about the injustices that are still occurring for victims of sexual violence.

I have designed a pair of earrings called "Denim Day" made from Sodalite and Sterling Silver to commemorate this month and to raise money for SafePlace.  I will donate 10% of the sale of every pair of earrings to SafePlace during the month of April.  Each pair is handmade and will be delivered gift boxed with the following narrative:

"She wears Denim Jeans on April 27, 2011 to support all those women and men who have been wrongly sexually violated around the world. She remembers the young teenager from Italy in 1998 who was raped and her rapist freed because she supposedly "helped" him take off her tight jeans. She knows there is justice in this world and it starts with her standing up and speaking her truth. She is not a victim. She is a leader of peace and justice. She wears her jeans and her "Denim Day" earrings to peacefully let others know that what she wears gives no one a right to violate her. Justice will endure. It is time to claim peace in the world."

I chose the stone, Sodalite, because it is the "stone of peace" and brings inner peace to the wearer.  Sodalite stimulates endurance.  It will harmonize ones inner being - the conscious and subconscious mind.  Sodalite promotes peace and harmony.  The stone looks like denim.  A perfect stone to represent Denim Day.

These earrings make a great gift for someone who may have been a victim of sexual violence or who supports justice in the world and chooses the wear jewelry with a sacred purpose and meaning.
